Can the act of shaping the face of the buddha lead one to enlightenment?

I wanted to look at the basic gestures of sculpture. A dance of the hands on clay.
Between 2011-2014, I studied the history and craft of sacred sculpture in Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, and China as part of a Fulbright research grant.
This is an homage to the dedicated sculptors of sacred art—to the unseen process of creating devotional images. I wanted to look at the gestures of sculpture. A dance of the hands.
